COLUMBUS COALITION AGAINST FAMILY VIOLENCE SPONSORS "WALK AGAINST FAMILY VIOLENCE"

WHAT:
To commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month - observed in October - the Columbus Coalition Against Family Violence is co-sponsoring a one-mile "Walk Against Family Violence" to raise awareness of this crime in our community.

WHO:
Representatives from the Columbus Coalition Against Family Violence, Ohio Department of Health and the YWCA of Columbus

WHEN:
Friday, October, 25, beginning at noon

WHERE:
The walk begins at Sensenbrenner Park at North High Street and Nationwide Blvd and will go south on High Street.

WHY:
One in four women will be physically abused by an intimate partner at some point in their lives. There were 6,000 domestic violence cases in Franklin County last year. Eighty percent of violent juvenile offenders and adult prisoners come from homes where domestic violence occurred.
