Today, Central Ohio hospital protocols for screening, reporting and assisting family violence victims are not standardized. At one critical victim touchpoint – Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and emergency departments – individuals may not get the help they need to stop family violence. The Coalition's Health Care Task Force is working to change this. By developing countywide protocols in conjunction with the Central Ohio Trauma System (COTS) to improve screening, identification and treatment, we are helping to ensure that victims get help beyond physical healing.
